Impact on the precision of the LARUS Dual-GNSS

  • The Wilkinson divider produces a signal attenuation of approx. 3 dB per output compared to the undivided signal
  • Thanks to the high gain reserve of active GNSS antennas (LNA), this has no relevant impact on the accuracy of the heading / wind solution of the LARUS Dual-GNSS under a clear view of the sky
  • Recommendation: If the splitter is used on the front antenna of a LARUS Dual-GNSS system, it is recommended to shorten the cable of this antenna to approx. 0.5–1 m to compensate for the additional attenuation caused by the splitter. For example, the attenuation of an RG174 antenna cable in the GNSS frequency range is approx. 1 dB/m. As a result, the front GNSS antenna with a 1 m cable and splitter then has a comparable signal level to the rear antenna with a cable length of 4–5 m without a splitter. If the antenna cable is to be shortened, please let us know when ordering the LARUS Dual-GNSS.
